At 17 years old, Paradise Valley rescued Rose, whose owners bought her as a puppy due to the movie 101 Dalmatians. Instead of having the loving home the film exemplified, Rose was left unwanted in her old age. On her way to a horse show, Annette stopped by the shelter and spotted Rose, filthy, frail, with overgrown nails, and close to death. Annette couldn't leave her behind and decided to take her along. The grateful staff cried as Rose left the shelter, knowing she had found her happy ending. Rose lived another year and died peacefully at 18.
