A call came into Paradise Valley stating that a good Samaritan had saved two calves from a truck of 98 calves that were en route to the slaughter. Despite the sadness of the other calves not being rescued, the focus immediately became helping these two lives and getting them to safety. Like many dairy industry calves, they were emaciated, trembling, severely dehydrated, and weak.
They were skin and bones and terrified of humans, to the extent that they shivered anytime a human came near. Paradise Valley named them William and Harry after the royal princes and bottle-fed and rehabilitated them for two months. They transformed from being meek to running over when their names were called. At the time, Paradise Valley did not have sufficient space in its facility to house the growing calves. Paradise Valley sent William and Harry to a rescue partner further north where the princes live their best lives.
